Well That’s More Like It

That wasn’t such a dull show haha! But seriously, I thought the girls did very good overall. And the show didn’t seem to draaag tonight. (Why of course, it was reduced to an hour!)

I have to say.

It’s official: I’m on Team Crystal. Well I’ve been rooting for her since Hollywood week but her performing Tracy Chapman’s Give Me One Reason totally sealed the deal. I really love this song. I got excited when Jordin Sparks and Kristen McNamara performed it in Season 6 and Season 8, respectively. The difference is, Crystal didn’t put a pop/rock spin on it and performed it close to the original, which is how I like the song to be sung. Part of me wishes she’d chosen Fast Car instead but I have no complaints here, this was a solid performance.

I like that she’s been picking songs from the 90s, and songs from my favorite female artists. Anyone who sings Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, and Tracy Chapman on the show automatically becomes my bet!

For the most part, I like this group of 8. The only ones I haven’t connected with yet are Siobhan (too oddball) and Lilly (doesn’t seem very natural). But based on last night, it’s not looking good for Katelyn (liked her performance actually) and Paige (of all songs, why that?). I’m happy Didi and Lacey made a rebound from last week. Next to Crystal, they’re my girls. Lastly, what is happening to Katie? She was given the pimp spot in the first show, which is telltale that the she was perceived to be a contender. She has a powerful voice and I really want her to do well.

Overall, this felt like a succint episode. I watch the show for the performances and the critiques so I didn’t really mind the absence of the canned introductions and lengthy interviews! Unfortunately, it’s going to be another looong first finals episode next week! But before that the boys go live tomorrow.
