Day 14 - A Song that No One Would Expect You to Love
This entry a part of the 30 Day Song Challenge

Oh I don’t know about this one. I listen to different types of music so I don’t know if there truly is a song that “no one would expect me to love.” Although I’ve heard from some friends they didn’t expect to hear OPM playing on my computer; and there was this one time a student said he was surprised to find out that I listened to Fuel.
But let’s see, it would probably be…

The Climb
Miley Cyrus
OST- Hannah Montana The Movie
(Released March 2009)
Honestly? I don’t mind Miley and all the other teenage pop stars of today. Sure, she can be a bit precocious at times but I don’t think her fame is completely undeserved. I don’t know if I love love this song, but I don’t have the urge to press “next” when it plays on my iPod. (Yes, I have it on my iPod!) To be honest, this is probably the only Miley Cyrus song I know of. I saw a lot of movies around the time Hannah Montana: The Movie was about to be shown so I always heard The Climb whenever the trailer came on. Plus, it’s been done to death on singing competitions, especially American Idol. But I think the song really was written for Miley to sing. (And I think it was quite bold for Jimmy Iovine to claim that Lauren Alaina was a better singer than Miley Cyrus!)
Last year, my sister and I watched The Last Song starring Miley Cyrus, of course. (Might I add that the movie soundtrack is pretty awesome!) I kept turning to her, asking, When is The Climb gonna play? When is The Climb gonna play? And my sister was like, Uh, that’s from another movie. Well, I forgot! Toward the end of the film I caught my sister crying hahaha!
Anyway, I have a feeling this song will secretly be my soundtrack as I struggle to write my masters thesis this coming school year.
