Today’s Finds (05/16/2010)
For the longest time I’ve been meaning to go to Novo, this new general merchandise shop near Olivarez. (I realize that statement is contradictory: for the longest time + new shop). But it was only tonight that I finally got to step inside the store. My friends who’ve been there were right: this place is home to A LOT of good finds! It’s like Divisoria under one roof.
Some of my proud purchases:

A ceramic breakfast cereal bowl for 30 pesos. Comes in three other colors but I liked this one (terra cotta) the most. Call it petty but I have a thing for already-labeled kitchenware. This bowl, for instance, tells you it is meant to be used for breakfast, not lunch or dinner. I remember in 2001 a very good friend gave me a “coffee”-labeled mug which was a constant companion when I studied in the evening. It eventually broke though.

Highlighters, 15 pesos each. Also comes in blue and pink.

Retractable metal tape for 55 pesos, which is 1/3 the price of the one I got last year from Handyman.
I also got two adaptors (because I almost always find myself needing but not having one at the office), two rolls of masking tape, and two rolls of twist ties.
Like I said, it’s Divisoria under one roof! I pass by Novo every day and I knew it was big but I didn’t know it was THAT big. The first floor houses school and office supplies, kitchenware, hardware, and home and garden products. The second floor is devoted to apparel and a few toys. What’s ironic to me is that the proper store name is “Novo Jeans and Shirts Unite General Merchandise” but I didn’t really spot that many jeans.
Aside from the adaptors and masking tape, I didn’t really need to get all the other items I got. I just didn’t want to leave the store empty-handed.
