I love covers (especially those that do justice to the original) but I am generally not a fan of artists/bands that play more covers than original material. Having said that, I do think Boyce Avenue’s version of Dave Matthews Band’s Crash into Me is not too bad. There’s nothing fancy/different here as the singer stuck to the original melody and acoustic arrangement.

Now I know hardcore DMB fans are probably going to rip this cover to shreds, especially because it’s done by a relatively up and coming band. You might have heard that Stevie Nicks has also recorded her own version of the song, which she says is “a female take.”

I love both covers. I think it’s because Crash into Me is a truly beautiful song, questionable lyrics notwithstanding. It was this song (which was played in Excess Baggage) that made me really sit up and take notice of the music played in movies and on TV shows.
