Day 08 - A photo of your favorite band/musician
I don’t listen to the radio as much as I did in grade school and high school. Kids who grew up in the 90s know what it means to patiently sit by the radio, waiting for their favorite song to play — blank tape cued, record button waiting to be pressed. Believe it or not, I still have my old cassette tapes of favorite songs recorded off the radio or MTV!
Though it is so easy to access music now, I’ve found that the pleasure of hearing one’s favorite song play on the radio hasn’t changed that much. It’s funny because I still get all excited when I hear the first bars of a favorite tune on the station I’m locked in to (most likely Jam 88.3)… even though I could always play it on my iPod or computer, which is usually within arm’s length.
Lately, I’ve been catching The Sundays’s Here’s Where the Story Ends on Jam. It’s one of those songs (from one of those great bands) that make me get all nostalgic. Plus, if you know me well, then you know I have a song “saved” for certain occasions (e.g., when I finally learn how to drive, when I’m laboring on my thesis, when I’m frightened, etc.). This track is one of them, and I have it reserved for the moment I finally make this big decision.
