Day 11 - A photo of your favorite film(s)
I think it’s a little corny to say that a particular movie has changed your life. Well, this movie did. Or, at the very least, had an impact on the way I approached my early teenage years.
What drew me to this film was the movie poster. I do recall how Sarah Michelle Gellar’s cleavage was busting out of the print (no pun intended) when I saw a life-size poster at SM Southmall way back in 1999. I saw the movie for the first time in August of the same year, and I remember how it had exceeded my expectations of it. I enjoyed it too much that I invited some high school friends (and foes) over to my house one Friday afternoon so we could watch it together.
The soundtrack also won me over. Every time I visit a record bar I never fail to look for it on the soundtracks shelf. I’ve spotted it on display a few times but what holds me back from purchasing is the fact that I practically have all the songs in my music library! I think it’s my favorite soundtrack to date, and The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony was just the perfect song choice for the movie ending.
It’s not a great great movie by any stretch. I’ve seen it several times already and I think it gets weaker with every viewing. But it’s just one of those memorable films that you never get tired of. In fact, I named my other laptop after one of the characters!
