Things You Need to Understand (but are Too Stubborn to) #1
First off: life is hard but that doesn’t mean you can’t approach it with practical thinking. Oftentimes the best solution is the simplest, and with life as complicated as it is already, it just makes the most sense to live it with as much simplicity as possible.
The world does not revolve around you. You are not the center of the universe. You know that saying about insanity, about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results each time? Well, if you’re experiencing the same troubles over and over again with different people and under varied contexts, you’d be insane to blame them for your miseries in life. Not to forget, you are the common denominator here. Ergo, they are not the problem — perhaps you are.
Usually, the next statement is along the lines of looking in the mirror and asking, What then can I change (if I am indeed the problem)? Well, the good news is, you don’t have to change if you don’t want to. Instead, channel your energy toward addressing the other problem. That is, you could simply learn to be at peace with the prospect that things may turn out sucky for you. This way, you wouldn’t need to cave in, give up on your pride, and change “for the better.” When you learn to accept that this is who you are (and you ain’t changin) and that this is simply the way things are, you will soon disillusion yourself that things are not as bad as they seem.
That, or you could change.
But for the love of god, please stop whining and subjecting yourself to therapeutic music to nurse your hurt feelings and/or soothe your wounded ego. It’s more practical and cost-efficient to nip the problem in the bud.
